ABOUT US
Welcome to The Well in West Auckland
Friendships are important and who doesn't need a friend when life gets a bit tough. The Well is a place that you can come with friends or build friendships there. Our aim is to create a space for people to do that over food and drink, where everyone knows your name if you want us to know it (we nicked that from Cheers!)

We serve great coffee, freshly made sandwiches, tasty homemade soup and delicious homemade cakes. We want our food and drink to be affordable to everyone who comes to The Well and we enable this to be the case in many different ways. Just ask when you arrive.

We support local business, for example our ham is purchased from the local butcher in the village. We care where we source our products and do as much as possible to ensure this is reflected in our purchasing. A number of the items we sell are Fairtrade. Reducing food waste is also important to us and so we have put many things in place to help us to do that, but we know we can improve further in this area.
We think that in the UK no one should go hungry or struggle paying for gas and electricity when they have no money. That's why we run a food bank in The Well through Durham Christian Partnership planted by The Trussell Trust. See our front page for when the foodbank is open. We might be able to help in other areas where having no or little money has become a barrier, for example money advice course or help in purchasing essential items. Please get in contact to discuss this further.

Sometimes we experience struggles in our community, we are here to listen. ometimes we just want to be heard! There is a private room if you would like some privacy. This room can be hired free of charge by local community groups. S
